Let me preface this review by stating that they do have the best margaritas in the neighborhood, their well tequila would be considered top shelf elsewhere, and their cocktails are better than most neighborhood restaurants. And that’s where all the accolades end. Last Friday, I had a small holiday retirement dinner at Tommy’s, and was only seated when my entire party arrived. I totally understand that policy, but feel that the bar would have accrued a larger tab if we were seated promptly. The establishment has a weird greasy odor and their restrooms also need a good scrub down, it looked like someone had explosive diarrhea and had a need to make cave paintings all over the walls. The wait staff were very courteous and hospitable, however; the owner was extremely rude, refusing to split the check for some of our party who had to make an early departure. Tommy came to take our order after appetizers and cocktails only to be disgusted when some of our party decided to split meals. During service, Tommy wore his distain on his sleeve; speaking in Spanish (which to his dismay we all understood, ) to his wait staff on how displeased he was because my party was taking a picture. Not even ten minutes elapsed before he attempted to clear the plate of my friend who was out side with a phone call. A member of my party attempted to talk to him, but he didn’t seem to give a shit. It is safe to say that I will not pay patronage to Tommy’s ever; there are other places to drink, eat, and be marry.

Excellent margaritas, excellent food in a very cramped room.

The portions are big, the staff is ok, but all in all a great place

to go for inexpensive food. Serves food until late...

This is a good place for a unique Mexican dining experience. It has the feel of an authentic place, although the food is pretty mediocre.

As I read in one of the other reviews...you must have been buzzed to not notice that the food was not the greatest. This Mexican restaurant is always getting good reviews, but I think its only a good place to hang out, have a few drunks, and get something small to eat. If you like loud restaurants, slow service and tight seating...try it. Otherwise, I suggest the Thai restaurant, Khan Toke, next door.

What is wrong with you people! Everyone must have been too drunk to notice how terrible the food was and they must have stayed buzzed while writing their reviews. The service was atrocious as the waiters were so busy checking out my girlfriend they must have forgot to bring our orders to the chef. People who were seated 20 minutes after me were served their meals first! The food was bad and the portions were terribly small. Tommy's was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Not only will I never eat at Tommy's again I won't even drive down Geary again as I am afraid I'll catch a traumatic flashback.

after many visits to this restaurant, i give the following rating, food is very good, drinks (margaritas in particular) are excellent, and with a very festive atmosphere.i would not recomment this place however, as the service has always been consistently terrible, with a management that doesn't seem to care about the bad service because of the fact that they're raking in business anyway. they should consider adding a few more waiters/waitress' to their staff. Staff too hurried and stressed out, leaving a very bad impression on customers. i will never visit this place again, i spite of great eating...

The food is good, particularly the specials which many times are fresh fish and seafood. However, the service is irregular. Many times we have been rushed while we are eating so the owners can make room for another party.

I thought I knew what Tequila was...until I walked into Tommy's and met Julio. He laughed at my choice (honest)! My education started that day. Tommy's makes the best Margaritas in town; all fresh ingredients. He even makes his own sweet and sour. The pork chops (chulitas)are so moist and tasty, just thinking about them is making my mouth water. The atmosphere is great and so are the customers. Take aA cab. Parking doesn`t exist.

Not big on atmosphere, but excellent food. Not your usual tex-mex fare. Try the marinated rib-eye steak for a real taste treat! Parking is not easy around this part of the Richmond District, but the food is worth it. (Easy bus access on Geary street.) Full bar (at the expense of restaurant seating); not a large place, so you might wait for seating on busy nights. Soft drinks are from the bar, and are small with no refills - stick with water or beer. (There's a TV in one corner which is usually on, at least in the afternoon.)

Fun place, cops are known to dine here, which usually means a good value but questionable quality. That's not the case here. Try the Carne Asada Tacos. Don't miss the black beans. The chorizo and eggs is excellent. Not the "traditional" Tex-Mex that most American palettes identify as Mexican. Family owned business, you can meet Bro while your waiting at the bar for a table, Sis when she seats you, another Sis when you order, Dad when he brings you the meal, and Mom when you pay the bill. Service very personable. Great family place.

Great Food. Great Place. Great Atmosphere. Ucatan influence. 100's of rare Tequilas.
