Kirks used to be very good but they have definitely lowered some
of their standards such as cleanliness and raised their prices
like the rents in San Jose. The old owners seemed to care more about
quality not quantity or price (extra patty for $3.40?) I went
for lunch with two friends and it cost us $28. Pretty expensive
for burgers and soggy fries. The place was a mess. Leftover food
was all over the tables, the bathroom... well I've seen cleaner
ones at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. The previous owners so called
secret was that they mixed cheap tomato soup in with the actual
steakburger but now since there really is no standard each location
has a different flavor.I have experienced this inconsistency
at their other restaraunts. Too bad the valley has lost another
once GREAT burger joint.

That guy above who said small burger must be used to eating with
Fred Flintstone. I've rarely finish a double here, and I eat a
lot. The onion munchers are greasy but good. Yes, there's not
atmosphere here. It's a BURGER JOINT people. Denny's is nicer.
But if you're into a big, juicy burger, there just isn't anywhere
else to go. You'll leave feeling sick from all the grease you just
ate, so if you're not into grease, go somewhere else.

After the change in Ownership, the quality of Kirks has
taken a nose dive. Food is still decent, but sloppy in
preparation. Gone are the glasses - replaced by styrofoam
cups. The place is constantly a mess, with lots
of tables needing cleaning, and trash on the floor. I
am disappointed in the new ownership in dropping the ball.
Maybe they will read this review, and get their act together
before everyone moves on to the competition.
However, not be totally negative, it is still better than
most of the fast food places when you want a real hot dog
or steakburger.

After reading the above reviews I was very excited. I was envisioning
big two-fisted burgers with all the trimmings, nice and crisp fries with
a thick chocolage milkshake.
No such luck.
I was very dissapointed. The burgers are small, the atmosphere is a greasy
spoon, the fries albeit plentiful are not crisp and the milkshake was OK.
Watch out because we were also overcharged. It was not until later did
I realise we had been overcharged one burger.
If you are into a hamburger that you might as well have made at home
on a Safeway bun this is the place for you.

Big burgers, cooked over real charcoal, baskets of fries
and/or onion rings, beer or milk shakes - what more could
you ask for from a burger place?
Gets crowded at lunch and parking is tight.

If you like REAL hamburgers, this is the place. They grind
their own Chuckburger meat, and grill over real charcoal.
This is one of 4 locations, and the best in the group.
Other locations have the same great burgers, but do not
have french fries or onion rings (Palo Alto and Campbell)
or great milk shakes.
