The resturaunt was dirty and the service was horrible. They are unable to get orders correct and they are unable to provide you with enough service (even when it isn't a busy day). (09-24-07) ( the review above was made weeks before the review made below.) Even though they have horrible service I still go back to little sichuan for the food. My family and I have been a loyal customer to them for at least five years. Last week the most disgusting thing happened...while eating our usual order of vegtable chow mein and tofu, one of us noticed a black little thing lying on the plate. It was a cockroach! It was the size of a quarter, it was dead and I think all the legs were still attached to it. ICK! I'm never going back there! I starting to feel sick again just by thinking of it! (10-06-07)

Service isn't too good here but if you can look beyond that, the food is quite good. The sichuan spicy cold noodle is a must. Their chow fun isn't that great, not much taste.

If you really like spicy food, you have to try it. I think this is the best Sichuan food in bey area. I highly recommend Sichuan spicy cold noodles, and spicy cold bean noodles.

Some of the best chinese food I have had in the Bay Area. The kungPao Chicken is exceptional.

My family and I frequent Little Sichuan at least once per month for dinner. We have been regular patrons for about 18 months. I highly recommend Family Style Noodles. This dish is more like a soup (supposedly for one, but we share). Very spicy. Depending on who serves this dish, it can be easy or awkward. Long noodles need cutting before serving indivially. Another favorite dish are Dry Cooked Green Beans in Garlic Sauce--yum. Like I mentioned previously, this is our favorite Chinese Restaurant in San Mateo. We have never experienced "bad" service but it is not consistent (the customer's attitude may have something to do with this...). We eat here on week nights; weekends are too crowded. Check it out; it will make you sweat.

I'm giving these guys 5 stars because they are so good at what they do: serving extremely spicy, and delicious food to a huge group of people (the tables are huge-- you can bring an entire team of software developers), in a very efficent way. So some people perceive their staff as rude. Who cares? You don't go there to make friends. Just be glad that they work so hard to get you seated quickly! Ever seen the soup nazi episode on seinfeld? The food is so good that literally 500 people crash the place for lunch and they manage to seat them quickly (within usually 10 minutes). A recent example-- myself and 7 friends arrived one day at 12:30, and there were a lot of people waiting. *still* we were seated in 10 minutes. And the food was, as usual incredible and incredibly spicy. After a huge meal so that I could barely walk, I was hit with my share of the bill-- $6. I stumbled out of the places eating some of the free candy feeling the pleasant chinese food sodium buzz. we have go ... more

The only thing worth trying here is the spicy Sichuan cold noodles that comes w/ shreded chicken or ground beef. The noodles are so good, I think the owner has the spices flown in from China periodically as you can't get some of those seasonings here or in other Chinese restaurants. The other dishes are good but unexceptional. I agree service can be nerve twisting. But I say go and take out the noodles... Bon Apetito Walt

Yes, the food is decent but I haven't been there in a couple of years because, as others have mentioned, the staff is nasty here. Why? My feeling is that I don't want to spend money on people who exhibit this attitude.

This is a great Szechuan (spicy hot) style restaurant. I agree with the reviews posted here earlier, including the fact that the spiciness is just right - not too timid but not mouth-burning either. My benchmark dish of Ma Po Tonfu tasted better than almost any other place I've had Ma Po Tofu. The waitrons are cold and aloof, but don't let that stop you from going here. If you're going with a bunch of people and are going to share - let them know that when you order. The dishes will be presented differently than the default, which is to serve it as if each dish was being eaten by only one person. They won't give you chopsticks unless you're Chinese, so ask for them. Parking is in a specific section of the big parking complex in the rear on Palm Avenue. The section is clearly marked "restaurant parking only". I went there for lunch and the servings were plentiful, very flavorful and all very inexpensive for the quality, quantity and the very nice, spacious decor.
