I went here once for lunch buffet and was satisfied.
Reasonable variety of dishes available, and some on the
spicy side (not so hot you can't taste it, but spicy).
Ambience is about what you'd expect from typical places
on Castro in Mountain View--walls painted in Mediterranean
hues, slightly smudged sneeze guard. Crowded at lunch.

not much to look at, but they have good staff, excellent waiting
time and they are quick.
Food is ok, nice and can be expensive so watch out

The lunch buffet isn't all that special, but quite adequate for
that indian food fix. Dinner is much better and provides more
variety. The naan is quite good; the tandoori chicken was dry.

One of my favorite lunch spots. The buffet is much better (and
hotter)
than Janta. Service is prompt and efficient.

I have been to just about all the South Bay Indian restaurants.
My old favorite was Swagat in Mountain View; but, I have to say
that after about 20 visits now, Darbar is my hands-down favorite.
My wife and I have always get gracious service and great tasting
food at a reasonable price. I started going here for lunch
buffet, which I thought was pretty good. But the dinner food
and service, at least after 8pm (when I usually go) really
shines. Being a spice lover and vegan, I love the Vindaloo
Vegetables, the only place I know in the area that offers
this very hot dish. The Aloo Paratha (Nan stuffed with peas
and potatoes) is excellent. The Chana Masala, a buffet standard,
is also tasty. From the reviews it would seem that Janta down
the street is the better local place. I tried Janta and had a
very disappointing meal - soso food, very slow service, noisy
crowded atmosphere and a higher price. I urge you to try Darbar!

Standard North Indian fare, well cooked, though heavy.
I tried the Vegetarian Thali and there was a _lot_ of
food, even for my hearty appetite. You can't walk away
hungry!
Service was a tad slow but very gracious. Additional
naans or onion kulchas were supplied without demur.
Prices for entrees include a full dinner.
