This place is exquisite, expensive but exquisite. The restaurant overlooks the Pacific Ocean, from 1, 000 feet above the coastline. The setting, the food, the wine, all add together to make for an out-of-this-world dining experience. Not inexpensive, bet well worth the time and cost...

STUNNING: the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the wonderfully inventive and eclectic menu, the gracious, unpretentious staff. I've eaten here a handful of times over the past five years and I can remember almost every dish I've had. It truly is a veritable feast for the senses! Book a table next to the windows just around sunset and your life will change forever.

The quality of the ingredients is among the highest I have found in my carrer as a cook and the caliber of the staff, from the cooks to the front of the house, is of the highest standard. You will find food that is creative and subtle - full of pure natural flavors and presented in artistic yet understated ways. There are always heart-healthy and vegetarian selections in keeping with the spa theme of the hotel (Post Ranch Inn). Sierra Mar has the most extensive wine cellar I have encountered; around 3500 selections, many rare and all stored and served properly. Everyone at the restaurant strives to provide a once-in-a-lifetime meal for each guest. Sierra Mar is a beautifully designed wood and glass structu ... more
