Food was excellent, the waitstaff is very attentive. I started
out with the baby green salad w/gargonzola dolce; wow it was great.
He had the woodoven baked mussels which he raved about the whole
time eating it. For our entree's he had the blood orange glazed
duck breast & I had the seared beef tenderloin both were fabulous.
They give you lots of food for the price.

This place is ultra-cool. Very good, wonderful wait staff, great appetizers,
and the wine list is phenomenal. We loved the evening, and will absolutely
go back.

They aren't kidding about the whole fish. It's an enormous,
head-to-tail, eyes-wide-open fish. Tasty, yet daunting. The wine
list is lengthy and diverse, and the desserts are inventive and unique.
It all adds up to a well-paced, pleasing evening. If you're hard-pressed
to come up with a romantic spot for your sweetie, have some clients to
schmooze or simply want a break from the frenetic pace of south-of-market
hot spots, head to Lapis.

This restaurant is one of my favorites, I recommend it to everyone!
I first fell in love with them during a private book-signing party
where the Lapis kitchen served small hor-duerves and finger
foods and a bunch of small single desserts. They had a great seared
ahi tuna with mango salsa on it that captivated my coworkers and
I..we must have had 20. Their chocolate souffle dish was amazing,
the best part about this evening was that we got to eat as much as
possible, when do you get to have 5 mini-souffles for dessert?
The next time I went was with a group of 4, the service was attentive
and friendly, the decor and ambiance was perfect, and the food
was just as magnificent as remembered. I had the ahi tuna dish
and he had the lamb which was great. Salads are also fabulous,
as well as their wine selection.
I definitely recommend this restaurant but be sure to get reservations.
Valet parking is the easiest way to go on the busy Embarcadero
street.

This evening they had Betty Foo singing in the bar, what a voice!!
It made for a very nice evening having her lovely voice flowing
thru the restaurant.
The wine list was very good. We tried a cab from Greece that was
out of this world. If you love wine you must try some Greek wine.

I'm happy to say that Lapis, a stylish new restaurant on the North
Waterfront, has a keen focus on substance without sacrificing
style. They've got a savvy waitstaff, young talent in the kitchen,
and a dining room full of local luminaries. The menu is modern
Mediterranean, and offers a cultivated, satisfying dining
experience. Particular dishes of note include Moroccan Crab
Cakes, a duck breast preparation with a pomegranate glaze, and
a whole fish. They aren't kidding about the whole fish. It's an

This restaurant has only been open a few weeks and I've already
been there twice! It is owned and operated by former Aqua personnel
so for those of you who are familiar with Aqua, you can just imagine
how this place is. The atmosphere and the decor was magnificent.
For apetizer, definitely try the cold seafood platter (great
Oysters!), the duck confit flat bread, and the crab cake. For
entree, go for the lamb shank (very juicy and tender), the whole
fish (the presentation on this was exceptional), and the ahi.
And finally for desert, well this was tough because we had a big
group and we ordered them all to try. My personal favorite was
the coffee creme caramel, but the others where equally delicious.
This place is a little on the pricy side but in my opinion, well
worth. I plan on going again in the very near future. Reservations
are suggested and they do have valet parking.
