Being there was NEVER a samuel hoffman, if find it hard to believe the last commenter actually ever ate at the restaurant. the owner of the orginal hoffmans was gary prosser. and it was NEVER owned by a jewish family named samuel hoffman. Gary was the FIRST owner.. i eat there MOST days of the week.. the mashed potatoes are made from scratch as is most of the food. all desserts are homemade as well as the dinners. And most of the recipes are from the original owner as are most of the original suppliers , since theorignal owners daugher robyn works at the deli. So stop in and give it a try. its still the same great food at a great value for your money.

Horrible, Horrilbe, Horrible! For those of you who are unaware of the history, the owners of Samuel Hoffmans changed hands after the death of either the owner or a family member i'm not clear on that. Since that time this place that was once a tiny little jewish pearl has declined into a diner of instant mashed potatoes and chicken salad made with yesterdays scraps. Other than the meat on the sandwiches (obtained from the original suppliers) EVERYTHING seems to be made the cheapest way possible, yet they still have the gall to charge you an arm and a leg. All of that authentic Jewish cuisine i knew Sammy's for is LONG GONE. The new owners have turned this FABULOUS deli into a crappy truck stop diner. Save your money and go around the corner to Frittata (Main St. South of 14 mile) the cuisine is vastly different from a deli, but if your looking for good eats in Clawson, that's about the best.

We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The waitress was quite nice. It took a long time to get eggs and the toast was burnt, other than that it was good.

Great place for carry out, the service was nice for dine-in but took a little long.

A true New York deli! The sandwiches are HUGE, the prices reasonable and the staff friendly and efficient. They also offer a carry-out menu as well as catering.
