Great food, great staff, and great appetizers. We will go back for those alone. The potatoes are truly to die for.

This place is excellent. I have myself been there once and it was the managers taking the people that trained us on the new computer system. I had chicken marsala but i remember a few of them had the duck. Everyone loved it. Plus, managers and the owners go there alot so it cant be that bad now cant it!!!

Good restaurant with good food. They have some great appetizers on the menu as well. I've stopped there during happy hour and I believe the drinks were 1/2 price. I love to just sit at the bar when I'm there alone. It's a very nice atmosphere. Very good soups and salads

Really solid steakhouse, with a diverse menu (pasta to burgers to steak), really nice atmostphere...love the bar. "Rob's Ribeye" is, indeed, an excellent cut and choice. Also, Axel's has other locations in Roseville and on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. Although they differ slightly, there's a consistancy in both menu and atmosphere that can be a very good thing.

If Axel's River Grille had lousy food, I'd probably still go there for the atmosphere. They have a glamourous L-shaped bar that can easily seat 15-20 people and an outdoor patio that's terrific for drinks on a sunny afternoon. From my observations, most people come for more elegant seating in one of the two formal dining rooms. All of those tables have white table-cloths, a lot of dark wood accent, and some interesting paintings on the wall. I find this an excellent place to bring guests and it's extremely close to Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, right in downtown Mendota. The food pricing is reasonable for a more upscale bar/restaurant. If you like hamburgers, you won't be disappointed either, since they have quite a selection. You also have a choice of carmalized onions on many of those burgers which is pretty tasty. Personally, I like their Caesar salad, all of their pasta dishes (I wish they had more!) and the catfish. Recently, I took some out-of-t ... more

From burgers (which are fine cuisine by the way) to lobster, this restaurant offers it all. And the experience does not stop with the food, the staff is allways more than outstanding. I know alot of people differ in what they define as excellent, but I suggest a good "Rob's Ribeye!" cooked medium rare to rare! Butter soft, and rich. The chefs here have NEVER mis-cooked a steak I have asked for.

Good food with friendly staff. Onion mashed potatoes to die for and bull bites to warm the mouth.
