My only experience with this place is lunch but I grew up in the neighborhood and loved going here. My first taste of Shrimp Louie was in this place. Food is always fresh and tasty.

Chez Jay's has been in business at the same location since 1959. Jay has continued to run a first class operation, no matter that the landlord, RAND Corporation, wants to close the place down and build another think tank. Lots of interesting things have happened at Chez Jay's, lots of interesting people have (and continue) to dine there. The bar gets very busy, but Jay does honor his reservations. The juke box has a wonderful selection of memorable tunes, so grab yourself a drink, get comfortable and enjoy yourself. Oh, do keep your eyes peeled, as you never know who you might see at Jay's. He is an motion picture and television actor himself (most of the posters up on the walls are projects Jay has been involved with, either as an actor or as a producer). Jay has lots of friends, so why don't you join the crowd?

Chez Ja's is a local dive which also serves some pretty good food. I've been going there since 1973 and the place hasn't changed a bit. Love Jay and his crew, they always make you feel at home, even if they have never met you before. The bar is always crowded, but Jay does honor his reservations. The stories about this place are almost a colorful as the truth. Keep you eyes peeled (this place can be really dark), you nver know who you might see enjoying the casual pleasures of Jay's. You can't top the atmosphere at this laid back Santa Monica legend. Funky, charming, comfortable. Great bar. Fresh seafood. One of these places where, the first time you go, you feel as if you're back with an old friend. Great steaks and fresh seafood.
