When I went inside I found the service to bepretty good considering that there were some new workers in training.The food was rich in flavor. The dishes I had was spicy because Ihad ask for it. The host Mr. Suvid double checked on my spicy ordermaking sure I "know what Thai peppers are" because he said "some peoplethink they can eat spicy food and when it comes out spicy they can'teat it." I think that is great service because he is concerned aboutthe customers. The prices of the food is very resonable compared to most Thai restrauntsI've been to. I went to Tubtim with 2 other friends and my meal came out toabout $37 dollars because we also had a few drinks including a beer which is much cheaper that most Thai places because They only charge $2.50 a bottlewhere as most Thai restraunt charge you $3 - $4.50 per bottle.Correction on the rice, they do charge you $.75 person but it comes w ... more

It's a very cosy and relaxing place.The host told me that there will be live music on friday and sat. before longwhich is something I look foward to hearing.Last thing, I hope Suvid get's his web site up soon because before long youwill be able to search for tubtim at www.tubtim.com .... With that as prologue, let me offer three possible explanations for the statement in the Jan. 26 review that the food at Tubtim is "bland:" The regular chef was off that night (given that Tubtim is a family restaurant, and that the chef is the patriarch, that seems unlikely); the reviewer confuses "spicy/flavorful" with "hot" (see above comments); in his quest for "spiceiness", the reviewer has consumed such a quantity of incendiary food that he has permanently anesthetized his taste buds. Let it be said right off that the dishes at Tubtim are NOT hot--even the ones with the asterisk have only a mild degree of heat (although our waiter advised us that if we wanted, additional "heat" could be added). They are non-traditional in other ways as well: The Pad Thai replaced about half the noodle content with bean sprouts which made for a different experience, not to say a healthier one as well. But the seasoning in every dish we tried was exquisite, and each dish had a distinct flavor. The only complaint I would echo is that the dishes ARE a bit on the small size: For four not particularly voracious eaters we needed five main dishes in addition to the Tubtim Combo appetizer (feeds three) to fill up. But given the overall quality of preparation and the modest prices, that's not a serious problem. (Also, unlike most restaurants, they don't charge for white rice!) Just for the record, the dishes we tried were Prawns in Garlic (T3), Nema Tukyarot (?; T6), Pad Kra Prow, Pad Thai, and Palam Gai. All delicious. less

My friend and I tried the basic dishes: Chicken Satay Tom Kha Pak (Coconut milk soup) Pad Thai Green Curry Prawns and a special call "Spicy Duck" Every dish above pass the tast test with flying colors and the dishes were decorated nicely (but not too fancy). By the end of the meal we were stuffed. Although the "Spicy Duck" isn't really spicy is was full of taste! They had:Ice Cream( Mango and lycee *they were out of coconut), Mango and Sticky Rice for dessert. Because we were trying as much as we could be tried the Mango and Sticky Rice which was sweet and tasty. For drinks: My friend had a Thai Iced Coffee and I had the Thai Iced Tea. The food was awesome but No other Thai restaurant can match their Thai Iced Tea/Coffee. Downside: Parking Space! It took us 30+ minutes to find parking. The waiter told us that we can "park at the bus-stop 1/2 a block up from reataurant after 8:00pm" ... more
