We found the restaurant based on a recommendation of a local resident.
The restaurant is small and very noisy, but festive and attractive.
One person came without reservations and could not be seated. With
reservations, we waited a while. The food and service was worth the
wait.
The bread was great, and the cornbread was to die for. I had a soft shell
fried crab, fresh and delicious. In spite of how crowded it was, the
service was prompt and friendly. The surrounding neighborhood is
quite interesting and worth a visit.

When the place is full the service can suffer but the food is always
fresh from the sea and done very well.

The first few times we went we really liked this place but in the
last year we've had some real loser entrees. Gumbo is always good
but that's the only sure thing besides the oysters. I know many
think it's great but the last two times just haven't been the same.
Our out of town guests were extremely disappointed in their meals.
It's small and noisy which would have been worth it had the food
been better like it use to be.

This place is great for people who love seafood. If seafood isn't
your cup of tea, like my husband, you won't really enjoy it.
I really haven't tried anything other than the seafood there,
and the seafood is excellent.
But please don't walk in without a reservation unless you don't
mind an hour wait or so.

What a wonderful place to spend time while in San Francisco!!!
The food was excellent and the staff was extremely helpful and attentive!!!
Our server was probably one of the best I have ever had at any restuarant.
She was patient and took the time to fully answer all of our questions
with a pleasant attitude.
The food was superb, everything was delicious and obviously freshly
prepared.
The whole dining experience was very enjoyable and I look forward to
returing often.
I highly recommend PJ's to anyone that wants excellent food and
service. Just be sure
to make reservations and arrive early!!!!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city!
The atmoshpere and service are great and the food is
even better. Try the Seared Ahi Ahi Tuna special or
the Sword fish.

Festive atmosphere in a very small environment. Definitely make
reservations for dinner because it can be extremely busy (people
hanging outside). Fresh seafood is key and PJ's excels at freshness.
Friendly service with virtually any type of seafood you'd like.

I grew up right around the corner from this place and have
seen it grow from a little place with 2 tables into its
current size when it expanded into an old book store next
door. Definately has the beat of the area (UCSF) and it
has only gotten more popular over the years.
The menu has also been updated to keep up with the times.
Parking is tough in the busy neighborhood full of banks
and shops and Golden Gate Park just a block away.

My best meals at PJ's have been those served at the counter. I don't
know if it's the wine or the fun of watching the chef at work on the
grill but if you go with a pal, skip the tables and head for the
stools.
The oysters have consistently been fresh. Usually there's a selection
of three kinds available. The Caesar is crisp, with a decent mix of
anchovies and garlic. Just enough to flavor the pallette without being
so strong you can stand to sit with yourself.
Pasta dishes are huge and usually heavy. Lots of cream here. Skip the
scampi--it was mediocre at best.
Make reservations and arrive a few minutes early. PJ's gets packed
quickly. It's loud, fun. Great for people watching.

The best seafood restaurant in the city.
Small, crowded, loud, good service, boisterous. It was cheaper before
it got all out famous; it's a bit pricey when you add everything up.
Long wait, but worth it. A great lunch spot for a special ocassion,
particularly if you work at UCSF.
