Generally Speaking, the place has a bit of the cowboy bar feel, with the occassional horse hitched out front. The Pricing is on a par for FINE dining, however expectations have never been met, on my 7 visits the meals have been Average to Good. BUT never have I had an Excellent meal, and on average we have spent $125 to $250 per visit for just two of us (includes Wine). For the Money I prefer the Food down the street at the Bella Vista, however for a casual drink in front of the fire and some appetisers in the bar, THIS IS A GREAT Place.

Nestled atop Skyline Blvd./Highway 35, this place is a woodsy retreat for Peninsulan urban folk. Many times the ambience is created as you arrive with the fog looming in the trees, and there sits a mountain house with a smokestack filling the forest with flavor and fervor. From the clientele you see a lot of locals as well as those who make the trip up the mountain. I recommend taking 92 up and then going south, instead of the windy 84/Woodside Rd. From what I recall they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The restaraunt is a converted home, with a bar area that you walk into from the front door. The atomosphere is very cabin-like as dark woods and a good sized stone fireplace are first noticed. They get busy from 7pm on, so if you drop by, take notice that you may order from the full menu in the bar area. The dining area is pretty much the size of a very large living room. The menu always features some great daily specials that are exciting, yet don't go off the deep end in ... more

The name says it all; you feel like you are in the country in a restaurant that is cozy. The dining room shows lots of wood and a fireplace. The food is pretty good but the over all experience is very nice. I believe this place is ideal for groups of 4,6 and 8 people. I felt very relaxed and at ease here. Hint: Call for directions and take care- ful notes if this is your first time. Skyline Bv. can be very dark.

We have gone twice and both times loved it. We had the same waiter who is friendly and has very good timing. The food is very good and the atmosphere is romantic. But it may not be too good for your cholesterol levels (especially the blackened beef topped off with brulee for dessert)
