You only find the true food connoiseurs here. There are tourist but not what you think of when you think of tourist. Only the well to do eat here regularly because it's expensive but as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for. I have had a poor meal here but that was a rare occassion. I have also branched out and tried something different I didn't like but that was because my taste buds disagreed with the food not the preparation. I think this is a high quality fine dining restaurant and will reccommend it to all that can afford it. Please those with small children are the loud and boisterous, go elsewhere.

I have been to Magnolias more time than any other restaurant in Charleston. The food and the service is top notch. There is something there for everyone from steak to fish.

Wonderful food and service. Reservations are strongly recommended. The Creme Brulee is especially good. Very charming and well worth the visit.

My husband and I passed thru Charleston with the kids, took the advice of others here on dine.com and tried out Magnolia's. It was fantastic! One of the best dinners ever eaten! I would say it should be labeled as gourmet southern cuisine. And the ambience is very romantic. We started out with the crab cake appetizer...delicious (although portion was a tad small). I had the grouper which was fabulous. Although the salad was just mediocre, the appetizer, main course, and dessert of creme brulee made up for it. The portion size of this dessert is massive. Even 2 could enjoy one serving. But so scrumptious you may want your own. What a great suggestion...we thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Magnolia's is a wonderful, romantic restaurant in Charleston known for the very best in low country cuisine. Reservations are a must, it was very busy the night I was there. It is definately not touristy, I always go to recommended restaurants where local business people go, Magnolia's is just such a place. Very good crab cakes and other seafood, excellent chocolate cheesecake. Service on par with fine NYC restaurants. A must place to take someone to impress!

The food is good, but I felt like the menu was rather limited. The quality was excellent, but evidently they don't understand how to cook a steak rare. Three in my party ordered rare, and they were between medium rare and medium. Considering how long it took for our meal to be delivered, I was not going to send it back.
