Just enjoyed a business meal at the Lion & Compass. I don't think I've ever been here when I was not on business, but it is convenient to oh so many office parks nearby. Their happy hour is reasonable and their meals are quite good. I had salmon and shrimp dumplings which were excellent. My appetizer was steamed mussels which were very tasty. We topped it off with Chalone Chardonnay. On the whole an excellent business meal. I don't think I would come here with my wife because the atmosphere is so dominated by the business crowd, at least during the week.

My daughter and I enjoyed a pleasant mid-week evening dinner in this very popular restaurant with many business groups present. We had no reservations (higly recommended), but were seated at 5:30 in the patio (the only tables available). I especially like their "Signature" Goat Cheese Salad. An order of Salmon and Shrimp cakes were good but over-priced. My daughter had a Swordfish special while I had Sea Bass. Both were delicious, moist, and prepared with superb sauces. The artistically presented dishes provided excellant eye appeal. The white table cloths were badly stained and the plain white plates were badly scratched, which detracted from the overall presentation.
Parking lot is very small so valet parking required.

The best use of this restraunt is for a group business dinner or lunch in the "Library" room - the best place in the Valley for business atmosphere. I have found the satisfaction varies depending on the dish ordered - varying from raves to yawns. The raves go to staple dishes - fish, lamb, beef; and the yawns to the froof-rah CA weird fare. When you rent the Library you can limit the menu to normal (non weird) dishes. Great for award meetings, private business discussions, customer visits, etc. Very intimate and private.

I have found the palce to be good. As a vegatarian, the chef surprized me when I asked for something off the menu and he came out and thanked me for the opportunity to do something creative!.... The place is great for intimate businees luncheons and dinners.

One of the better places in the South Bay for business entertaining. The food is "creative Californian", so your customers from the Midwest might be a bit put off, but it works for most. Lots of private and semi-private areas for business dinners.

Average place. Not too bad for dinner, but not fancy either. Food was average, however on the heavy side. (i.e. too much oils, cheeses, 'heavy' ingredients that covered up the flavor of the meat or fish). More like 'grandma's cooking' than a restaurant dinner. Probably won't go back for a while.

I've only been here for business lunches (it's definitely that kind of place). You'd think from its name that it would be a sort of English pub atmosphere, but it's just regular California restaurant. The main room isn't big but it's incredibly noisy; I couldn't hear the people across the table from me. There aren't too many decent restaurants in this area, which must explain the crowds. The food is perfectly adequate but nothing special. Nice plantings on the way in. Valet parking only.
