This is definately a tourist place to eat, located in Old Town, a tourist
attraction itself. But then my wife and I were tourists when we ate there
in March of 1997. It has several, perhaps a half dozen dining rooms,
all decorated in southwestern style. I also remember the tree inside
the place.
The food was perhaps not great, but certainly good. The trio of guitar
players/singers was nice too (yes, I know, "touristy")
Overall, we enjoyed the experience.

Located in historic 'Old Town' the La Placita Dining
Rooms has been feeding residents and tourists for many years.
The atmosphere is traditional and pleasant. Adobe walls, brick
floors and viga ceilings enhance the ambience which is colonial
New Mexico. Prices are slightly higher than average due to the
restaurant being located in a tourist location. The food is good
but neither authentic nor spicy. Again this is due to the location
and the number of tourists that eat there. I enjoyed the chile
rellenos and the sopapillas were hot and fresh. I did have trouble
trying to get more chips and salsa before our meal arrived and
was somewhat disappointed with the wait staff. I felt they could
have been quicker and watched our needs more closely.
