Monroe's tries really hard, but falls short of the mark. Maybe
they are catering to the Old Town tourist trade, but for locals, you
can do better for mexican food. Feels like Garduno's to me.

This company, which started out as a small drive-in restaurant
a few blocks from Old Town, has developed a nationally-recognized
line of New Mexican food products. The small location on Lomas
does not accept reservations, and at lunch time it is not uncommon
to find a line winding through the parking lot. Their Green Chile
Cheeseburgers are world famous and go for $3.75. Lunches and
dinners average $6 and breakfasts average $5

This is a nice place to eat, and the portions are very generous
for the price. it is nice to eat someplace that the staff is as friendly
as the food is good.

I rather non-descript place but with a solid menu and good chile.
The staff was friendly and the food tasty. Definitely worth checking
out and a good place to hit for a late saturday morning breakfast.

Monroe's is a good place to introduce "out-of-state"
visitors to the taste treat of New Mexican food. It's chile-dishes
tend to be a little more mild than some Albuquerque restaurants
of the genre. Good service, and a varied non-Mexican menu too.
Nice environment. Another location on Ozuna Rd., just east of
San Mateo Blvd. ...I recommend it first, if only for it's
sunny patio in season. You need that tan to look like you've
been to New Mexico don't you? LOL.
