We've been here a number of times. Kind of a 50's atmosphere. Service was OK, kind of lackluster. Food is OK, standard diner fare, and never had a complaint about how the meals were cooked. Menu is not super imaginative. A little expensive for what you get.

All i can say is that i LOVE this diner. For one town Newburgh is just full of them and i have to say that ive tried them all and this one is definently the BEST of the BEST... Its restaurant quality at a high class diner level..which means more affordable HELLO...unlike those expensive restaurants that charge to much for that average pasta dish Johnny D's also includes a delicious Salad Bar with every entree...Great breakfast too...best place after those wild crazy late nights out with ur buddies and u cant go home yet cuz your STARVING...Johnny D's is THE ANSWER...recommend for any fellow diner lovers

Wow no idea what some of these sad little people are talking about...Johnny D's has been around for 12 years and like every business has been thru ups and down...theyve been praised and bashed...but no matter what still manage to pull best diner of 2006 and 07 according to the times herald record...great food...extensive menu..(who complains about having TO MUCH variety)...friendly service...been eating there for years...NO complaints here...give it a try...3 words CHOO CHOO PLATTER

The service is slow. This is your typical run of the mill place. Sorry wasn't impressed. They over cooked the pasta untill it was smushy. You could taste the cook had burned the sauce and was still serving the pot.

This is a good "diner" but not old diner food. Atmosphere is 1950, 1960 Music. Bar seperate seating for smoking. Menu is so extensive it take almost 20 min. just to read. Salad Bar great, look for Cream of Broccoli soup (5*), you can get taco's, chicken, steak, burgers, pork chops, eggs, french toat , name it. Great Pasta "Zuppe de Pesce" sweet clams. shrimp mussles, lobster over pasta. So big try to eat it all but don't. Desserts : try canolli cake or strawberry shortcake with 3-4" strawberrys or cheese cake that melts in your mouth..Must take home desserts.

The food is decent as far as Diner food. The tables can be too close together so it's a bit uncomfortable when it does get crowded.

i like it for a diner the waitress needed more tips on how to be a waitress but the food is good and at reasonable prices. its only 3 miles away from me
