This "Inn" was not someone's home but was an "Inn" way back when. Pub, bar and a few rooms for travelers to "bunk" for the night. Then up in the morning to catch the train right outside. Atomsphere is great. Old floors and the dark wood tavern make it a jewel of a find. The tavern fare is true old english style with Bangers n' Mash, Plouhman's lunch and Fish and Chips with vinegar. Burgers, salads and such can be found as well but the secret is the dinner entree's. Wow! Awesome, homemade Tomatoe soup......there are no words to describe the taste, texture or incredients. This is NOT out of a can. A silky consistancy, with chunks of tomatoes and wonderful floating croutons. If you want to try other things, you must at least have a cup to start. The grilled salmon with curried mashed potatoes are devine! They have great steaks, pasta dishes and chicken and the specials are so tempting it may take along time to order. Dinner is served in the Tavern at the bar, or if you're lucky you could score a table but making reservations are your best bet for Friday and Saturday nights as you'll need one to dine at a table in the tavern between 5pm and 10pm. After that, tables are up for grabs! Blues and great music draw a regular crowd so call them up and see whose playing. The tavern does allow smoking so if you'd rather not digest your dinner along with bad air, the dinning room offers a non-smoking atomsphere with lovely dinner music. All-in-All, it's a great deal! The food is excellant and the chef, Salvadore, has been cooking here for many years. It's truely underpriced and a bargain for the portions. Did I mention the Mussles?? Awh! They're something you must have and share! A bowl piled high with a generous portion of mussels covered with roated tomatoes and bacon sitting on top of a beautiful, thick piece of bread in a soup of sauce! Service is great. The servers know the menu inside and out, but they would since they've been there for years. One has been there for over 10 years!! Anyway, it should be a place that everyone tries at least once. In Ashland on Main Street, you can't miss it! Ciao! less
