Dinner here on 10/5/02. First the minuses. The waiter (male)
were latino or Asian and communicating was somewhat difficult.
Also, they weren't too familiar with the menu and had difficulty
answering questions about the food and the menu. If you go, get
a table with a waitress wearing a german costume. Other than a
language problem, the service was attentive and pleasant.
Now the plusses. The veal shanks were excellent! two of our party
had those and substituted sauerkraut for the veggie of the day.
One had Schnitzel Holstein and that, too was excellent - agqain,
substitute saurkraut for the veggetable. The fourth has Schnitzel
in a paprika cream sauce but the taste of green peppers simply
overpowered the entire dish. If you like green peppers, this
is your dish.
After many attempts, our waiter finally understood that we wanted
an appetizer of wursts (offered as an entree on the menu). This
was wonderfully done: 4 types of wursts and a liver dumpling served
with a jar of mustard and some kraut. A neat way to start and there
was plenty four the four of us to share.
It wouldn't be German with good beer. The draught beers were great.
Forget wine.
Obviuosly very popular. We arrived at 5:30 and by 6 almost every
table was taken.
