I've seen Whitey's listed as "Whitey's El Berta Restaurant" -- no longer correct. It's just Whitey's Restaurant (Whitey's El Berta Motor Inn used to be next door, but that landmark is gone now). Some call Whitey's a "typical greasy spoon". No, but it DOES have that down-home Southern restaurant charm where everyone feels welcome. Whitey has limited his menu to just breakfast and lunch (signs of the times), but the food is still the best. Breakfast at Whitey's is a MUST. No one anywhere serves better North Carolina Country Ham, and the eggs are always cooked exactly to your order. The food is served hot, and the wait staff are wonderful people. Whitey's is a landmark in Wilmington, having been there since 1954! I've been eating there for more than 40 years, and I love it. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I actually would drive to Wilmington just to have breakfast at Whitey's then turn around and go home. I moved to Wilmington three years ago because I liked the area, the beaches, the people, and because I just HAD to be closer to Whitey's! less
