This restaurant was by far one of the worst dining experiences my wife and I have ever suffered through.
The atmosphere was cold and dark; brushed steel walls do not make for a very appealing or friendly environment.
The service was VERY poor. On a Tuesday night, at a time when the restaurant was about 25% full, we were seated next to the kitchen, right behind the very loud, and frequently used espresso/cappuccino machine. What made this all the more frustrating is that the restaurant never filled more than a third of capacity. The waiter was very discourteous, as well as very oblivious to customer service, never greeting us. We were never asked our how meal was, just handed a dessert menu without a word.
The food, even if it had been delicious, could not have saved this experience. And, it was not delicious. The ribs and beans were mediocre at best. I found the wine list uninspired and poorly assembled. We were too upset by the time we were handed our dessert menus and therefore, did not even look at what the selections were. However, there is a very good ice cream shop just up Railroad Street, with a "friendlier" atmosphere.
I would not recommend to anyone I like that they should eat at the Union Bar & Grill. However, if you are planning on breaking up with your significant other, this place would set the mood perfectly. Yes, it is that kind of warm environment. less
