This is the home of the absolute best unpretentious American burger. It is a family owned 50's style drive-in with carhops who are not only efficient but friendly. The burgers are served hot and thin protruding past the fresh bun, with whatever you want on them. The rootbeers are homemade and no colas are served. Other choices such as the fried shrimp, perch or chicken baskets are also excellent. For dessert hav e the fancy turtle sundae complete with fresh whipped cream and a cherry on top. Open till 2am, it is not unusual for the place to be busier late at night than mid day. It is no wonder that the Spot has been in business for over 50 years in the same location, a couple of miles west of the shores of Lake Michigan. less

Yeah, I've been going to the Spot for years, is pretty fire, but it aint got nothin on Big Star, its way cheaper and the food is way better, the Spot's burgers have weaksauce smeared all over them compared to Big Stars. The Rootbeer Whir ... more

Yeah, I've been going to the Spot for years, is pretty fire, but it aint got nothin on Big Star, its way cheaper and the food is way better, the Spot's burgers have weaksauce smeared all over them compared to Big Stars. The Rootbeer Whirls however are worth about 30 bucks a piece, best thing to drink in town, I gurarantee it, but it costs to much for a man of my larger size to eat a such a establishment, I simply eat too much for the prices here. Bottom line -- If its 2:30 am and you are intoxicated on a Saturday night, this place is heaven. Any other time, its damn close but comes up a bit short. less

This place is timeless with carhop service and rootbeer floats! Located on the corner of 75th street (hwy 50) and 22nd Avenue, the Spot has been a draw for years! The cheeseburgers are outstanding! I would pass on the fries too, but most everything else is well worth the trip....and the inexpensive prices!! You can call your order in ahead of time and have it ready for pickup when you arrive. (Carhop service only---no inside seating!) less
