The Great Outdoors has been around for a long time and it's just as good today as it was when I was a kid. The problem with most "chain" sandwich shops is that you can't taste the difference between the meats or cheeses. It all tastes the same. The G.O.'s has great distinct flavors, not just smoked whatever. My personal favorite is #21 -The Invention- served hot with cream cheese and mushrooms...O' my gosh, I'm drooling on myself! less

Okay I love EVERY Great Outdoors in Dallas -- I moved to San Antonio 1 year ago and I go up at least 2x a year to Dallas just -- no joke -- to get a sandwich from this place. The other reviewer must have just visted before they made improvements. Where the people are more like sandwich artists. My sister and I are going again in September -- my birthday :) I really like "the Works" which is a sandwich option -- awesome, I generally get a club sandwich that has like many changes -- I am VERY picky -- and I have never had a problem. I usually went to the one in Richardson or Plano, but I did drop by this one while I lived there and it was up to par with all the other locations!!!! less

Play 20 questions to help the staff build your sandwich. But that's the way it is in most sandwich shops. The menu is much more varied than the competition's. And the food is good, once you get it. In fact, it's really good. Notice the options of Healthy Choice brands too. Visit for variety. Northwest corner of Trinity Mills and Midway. less
