A Bad Experience. I went with a group. Had reservations. About an hour past the reservation time one of our group asked the hostess and was bruskly told to "go somewhere else". I had a word with the manager. He apologized but really didn't seem to care. Should have taken the hostess advice and gone somewhere else ! Got seated after over an hour. (Drinks were great and helped ease the time.) Got a salad and, after another half hour got a baked potato. There it sat all buttered and steaming and waiting for the steak - and waiting - and waiting. FINALLY the steaks came. Steaks were great - potato was cold. I'll not go back. There are lots of good steak houses where you don't have to spend a career or watch your friends being insulted. BOO MANAGEMENT ! ! less

Very good steaks, but slightly overpriced. This place is a SA tradition. I have been going here for special occasions since I was a kid, at least 30 years. Their chicken fried steak is very good because they use a ribeye instead of cheap steak like most places. Probably the only restuarant anywhere that has fake hams hanging from the ceiling. less

One of the oldest, and definitely one of the best steak houses around. You can dine here for under $20, but the best steak entrees are slightly above $20 (large filet, etc.). Atmosphere is casual and family-like. The side dishes are very good, but the steak is in the spotlight (excellent cuts cooked to perfection). Be prepared for a crowd on the weekends, but the wait is well worth it. Try a side of grilled shrimp with your steak - dipping these shrimp in any sauce should be a sin. Quality has been consistently excellent for at least 16 years. Highly recommended. less
