What an experience. 6 of us went to this restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. We had confirmed reservations for 9 pm. We were seated at 9.30 pm., no apologies offered. Our first course arrived at 10.20 pm, the second course never arrived, they supposedly ran out. We got to witness a very loud and unpleasant altercation between an unhappy customer and the manager and between several of the waiters. For this wonderful dining experience we received a bill for $800. The food was only mediocre, the service professionally disinterested. Go see the outside, it is beautifully decorated but save yourself the trouble and the disappointment of going inside. We found several much better and more reasonably priced restaurants on 7th avenue, a mere 5 minute walk from this overrated tourist trap. less

As for the waitstaff, they are attentative at the beginning, but lose their touch during the evening. Small things such as water glass refills, extra condements, etc are quickly forgotten and they have to be reminded once again. I have to admit that the decor and atmosphere is impressive and the view of the park does look nice.
This place is definately for tourist who don't know any better where to dump their money into. It's just the name that they go for. less

If your long distance relatives want to come here for a celebration, go to the Crystal Room and order the shrimp cocktail and the prime rib. There are somtimes good Jazz musicians in the Bar room. For top dining check this Website or the "Zagat Guide"! less

Or maybe I'm missing the point: maybe that "typical caustic New York" attitude is what the tourists have come to expect as part of their "New York experience."
