I really hate to leave bad reviews, but here goes. My first experience with this place was through the drive through. It was my first time going to a Steak N Shake, so I asked for a few moments. I only took a minute or so, told them I was ready, and they never responded back. I sat there for over ten minutes saying, "hello, hello, I'm ready!"... but nothing. However, they did leave their intercom on and I could hear the employees horsing around, so I assume that is why they forgot about me and couldn't hear me. My second experience involved the dine-in. My family and another family stood at the "Please wait to be seated sign" for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there. It was another 10 minutes before we were seated. They were not that busy by the way, and the other family lost patience and left. The floors were filthy and disgusting, all the empty tables were not bussed...I was skeptical. Our waitress was absolutely clueless, but refused to obtain the correct answers to my questions. Having never eaten there before, I asked what size the single burger was, was it a quarter pound? She looked at me as if I was the biggest idiot and said, "I don't know, it's a single patty!" When I continued to question how big a single patty was she simply said yes, it's a quarter pound (She had no idea, and it was NOT a quarter pound. It was about the size of a $.69 McDonalds burger, but I paid almost $3.00 instead). The waitress tried to be friendly, but she was very forgetful and as I said before, clueless. Considering the prices on the menu, my husband and I were expecting a nice fulfilling meal, however, no such luck. These were some of the smallest portions I have ever seen in any food industry. I paid $1.40 for five onion rings and $1.40 for the most minuscule salad I've ever seen. My husband ordered the original double. There were only one and a half patties. On top of that the food was not even near quality. We paid twenty bucks for everything and left there hungry. We could have paid the same amount at Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Johnny Rockets; and left with our pants unbuttoned. Instead, we left and went across the street to Wendy's to get some adequate food in our bellies. On the plus side, my husband's chocolate shake was decent. I ordered one too, but it never came out... less
