It sure sounds like the old people don't like this place, but for my family it is great! We are not rednecks, just transplants from Hawaii who love good BBQ. The service is pretty good in that they are friendly and honestly trying to do well by you. My children are very well behaved but it is tue that sometimes it gets loud in Sonny's when there are big groups comming in. The BBQ is the best in town, unless you know someone who has their own smoker, and the price can't be beat. Saturdays the kids eat free and that is always plus. As far as getting discounts go, i have never had a problem with them charging me for the kids on saturdays, although we do make a point to ask if the kids meals are free with our meals. But then again you are supposed to talk about what discount you want before it gets rung up at every resturant aren't you? Overall sonny's is a fun place to eat with great food and their baked beans and sweet potatoes with cinnamon butter are the best! If you don't like sonny's you really would do beter at a place like perkins or denny's where the clientele are all from the north and close to the grave..although having to hear them yell at each other because they are going deaf may not be such a pleasant experience either. less

The last straw was when we paid our bill. The other members of our party got the 10% senior discount but my husband wasn't fast enough to ask for it. The cashier said it was too late and she had already rung up the check. She was not going to give us the discount. Needless to say, no more Sonny's for any of us. less

Largely patronized by a redneck type of clientele and definitely kid friendly especially if your kids are loud, undisciplined and generally obnoxious. If you don't have a lot of $ you can feed the whole herd on passable chow (avoid the plastic cole slaw) but if you want anything at all pleasant and palateable...head down the street to Perkins or one of the many other choices. less
