This restaurant was awful. Tables were filthy. It even smelled foul in the dining area. Drinks were strong, but not strong enough to enable us to stay and finish our meal. The place shouldn't be in business. The male owner was a short and dumpy repugnant looking individual who seemed to have a very distorted "Don Juan" type image of himself. Supposedly, this restaurant has been around a long time. I find this VERY difficult to believe. Ownership couldn't have been this horrendous throughout the Silo's duration. less

The Silo has become dirty, unfriendly, and the prices are certainly NOT commensurate with the abominable attitudes of the waiting staff, current ownership, and lousy food served. This never would've happened when the Father that started this restaurant and Mr. Cavanaugh were around, yet now, the son is disgracing the restaurant ! The ONLY consolation hubby and I take is knowing this restaurant will be bulldozed within the next few months since CVS Corp. purchased the property January 2006. In March 2007 the current Silo Restaurant in Farmington will be gone, and the current lot will be the new home of the CVS Store currently existing at Post Office Square 6 blocks North on Rt. 10. What had us most angry was the arbitrary fluctuating prices of cocktails, hair in our food, tough meat, and sarcastic attitude of the little male owner who seems to believe he's doing you a favor "allowing you to eat at his restaurant", a dubious honor at best ! We won't patronize rude ownership, and such repeated poor service. less

Things must have slipped in the three years since the last reviews of the Silo. The physical surroundings of the restaurant are excellent, nicely decorated, well laid out and comfortable. The service was off, as no one except a busboy bearing bread approached our table until we asked for a waitress after at least 20 minutes. That set the tone for the rest of the evening with excuses from the hostess and the waitress regarding other large parties, slow kitchen, and forgetting to tell the waitress that we were there. When the cocktails arrived, they were satisfactory. The menu ran the gamut of steaks, seafood, fancy pasta dishes, Italian veal dishes etc. Many menu items exceeded $20. The entrees took an exceedingly long time to arrive which I believe was largely due to the kitchen although one of the four meals arrived lukewarm. In all fairness, the restaurant was busy but at no time were all tables filled and on a Saturday night they should have enough experience to realize more help might be needed. The entrees were good but far from outstanding and considering the prices, I won't be rushing back to re-evaluate them. less

The Silo is a relaxing and wonderful place to dine, or drink. It has kind of a high class bar. They have dancing, and a pianist/ singer who takes requests. They atmosphere im the Restaurant could not be better, as well as the service. The food that I consumed was also extremely good. I would recommend the Silo to anyone. A great place to go as a couple and relax and dine. EAT AT THE SILO!!! OR DRINK & DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY!!!! less
