Shanghai Garden serves consistently delicious and memorable dishes. Try the sugar pea vine (sauteed greens with a touch of garlic), the corn or barley green pot stickers (handmade dumplings filled with chicken and shrimp, served with a tasty jalapeno dipping sauce), the "house special barleygreen hand shaven noodles chow mein", and the Sizzling Triple Delight platter. You will embark on a wonderful Chinese meal that is not to be found elsewhere--and not to be missed. Dining with four or more people is the best way to enjoy a variety of dishes. Or, for larger groups ask for a table with a lazy susan - it seats about 10. But do not let this scare you away - dinner for one or two can be just as enjoyable. less

This place is packed during lunch, but is usually worth the wait. It is mostly occupied by the non-residents of the district, mostly business people. Very good service makes up for the cramped quarters. At times you may share a large round table with others unknown to you. It's all good. They've wonderful hand-shaved corn or green barley chow mein noodles. The tofu is soft and slathered in a delicate sauce. Try the vegetable steamed dumplings, or have them fried (pot stickers) with the soy/vinegar sauce. The hand shaved vegetable chow mein noodles and tofu is a large portion, and can be split by two people that are not incredibly hungry. They also serve brown rice! The food tastes fresh, clean and not overly oily. The drawback, for many of us, is the high price on non-meat items that should be considerably cheaper than the meat items. I've heard many long-time residents of Chinatown complain about the prices being out of their financial reach. Overall, they do it well! Highly recommended. less

The downtown equivalent of the ever-popular "Shanghai Cafe" in Factoria, the two restaurants share many similarities including the warm atmosphere and friendly service. Serving primarily Taiwanese style cuisine, the menu still has all the local favorites... Wine-flavored Chicken, Orange-flavored Beef, and Hot and Sour Soup... But if you ever take the opportunity to try both restaurants, you'll find all the sweet subtle differences! less
