I continue to return to this restaurant on a regular basis. It is wonderful! I am a professional chef and it is difficult for me to find a place that I can relax and enjoy my meal without thinking something could be done better. I find the food to be incredibly authentic and has become a true comfort food for me. Everything is homemade and very fresh. The Thali dinners are served in a very authentic manner and I have never had a poor one yet. I srongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes to venture into authentic Indian cuisine. less

I'm not sure if this restaurant has changed owners in the last couple of months, if the people who previously reviewed it were on drugs when they visited it, or if everyone somehow reviewed a different restaurant.
In any case, after foolishly reading the reviews on this page we went to Shan Indian Cuisine tonight (a Friday). We got there about 8 PM and the place was deserted. There were no other patrons in the whole restaurant and nobody came while we were there. No wonder. Indian Palace not too far away is much better.
The food was generally OK - it didn't taste awful and it was recognizably Indian - but it just wasn't very good. The dishes we ordered (chicken pakora, keema nan, chicken tika masala and lamb korma) just tasted flat, though the lamb was significantly better than the chicken. The service was similar, OK but nothing special. They came, took the order, brought the food, took the dirty dishes away, and that was about it.
Unlike what other posters have said, the food was actually pretty cheap. Most entrees are about $7.50-$8 a la carte (this includes rice) and Thali dinners are about $3 more. This is significantly cheaper that at most Indian restaurants around. Then again, you get what you pay for.

This is a fabulous Indian restaurant! I cannot say enough good about this place. It has become the restaurant I frequent more often than any other. If you enjoy Indian food, you are in for a real authentic meal at Shan's. The Tali dinners will fill you up and leave you satisfied for days. They have numerous items from Lamb Kabobs (I think of this as Lamb Sausage) to wonderful Samosas - all homemade - and every last dish is a winner. I would definitely try this restaurant as soon as you can. Price is right for the food you get! less
