We wanted a name that was easily recognizable and had a slight hint of old Europe, ” said James. Located in a shopping mall, Shakespeare’s is a unique oasis that takes you back to a pub in Derby, England that inspired James. “I wanted my restaurant to feature European styling. We are a casual and subdued restaurant that is darker on the inside because of the paneling. We are a more relaxed restaurant than most places. We don’t want you to just eat and then run. We encourage customers to stay and relax here.” How does a successful business executive single out Titusville as the place to start a business that he had never run or owned? “We knew Titusville because we had visited the area before and liked the people and the area.” The menu is a blend of Euro and American “I am dedicated to quality food, freshly made to order. I always tell guests that fresh food takes a little longer to prepare right. I oversee everything that is presented to our guests. If I am not happy it never leaves the kitchen, ” James added proudly. The décor also reflects his dedication. “My wife Denise created the drapes and I did all of the paneling. We hunted for the artwork and pub wall hangings so that they might have an authentic look and adds to the motif of England and Shakespeare directly.” One unique aspect of the restaurant is the beer selection. “We have the standard American beers but where else can you go to try, Monty Python Holy Grail Ale, Old Engine Oil from Scotland, The Black Cat Dark Stout, or Hobgoblin Dark Ale, or Triple Imperial Dark Ale which has a sweet aftertaste and is 11% alcohol? “ In a quiet atmosphere conducive for savoring Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp, Fish and Chips, a soup without chemicals or salt, a Wine marinated Angus Burger, a Pork Loin cooked with raisins, apples and maple syrup, or a meatloaf without filler, and so many other delights, Shakespeare’s is a giant leap above the mundane fare.
