To whom it may concern; My family and I were in on Sunday 10/8 (party of 20). I have gone to Ruby's not only in Laguna Beach, but San Diego where I used to live and have also gone to Mission Viejo, Palm Springs & Riverside and I have "never" encountered a rude person as I did on Sunday. Was not greeted with a smile (Kate/Katie) was her name, the other young lady was very pleasant. When I tried to make conversation, she snubbed her nose and rolled her eyes. I mentioned that I had been a waitress and found it difficult but yet fun, she again rolled her eyes. Never got a smile, while sitting a enjoying our meal, I noticed the other girls and yes they had smiles and were polite. On one occassion the mgr came over to make sure things were fine and yes they sure were. I do enjoy your diner but felt that I needed to share this bit of information because after all this effects your business. I hope that it was a bad day and that she is not always with such a straight face (cute little girl), what a shame. I hope that you will bring this to her attention. I almost forgot this little shack, it's right out at the end of the pier, and I used to go there while fishing at the weekend. The shakes and malts and ice creams were always good, and the service inside and out reasonable. You sometimes had to line up for a while outside for service at the window, or to get into the resaurant. Burgers and fries were the mainstay, it was a bit more expensive than it ought to be, but then it was on the pier, and seaside snacks are like snacks at an amusement park, basic and overpriced. It was better to get a drink and some food there, than to pack up my fishing tackle and walk all the way back to shore with it, so I wouldn't complain! less

After entering this diner, you'd think you just had passed through a time warp, taking you back to the great fifties. The staff are even authentic to go with the surroundings. Great place to take the kids for great family fun. And be sure you try those delicious milkshakes. All the food is terrific, i've tried almost everything on the menu. less

You have to get the burger here. Don't cheat and get a sandwich or something. Just get a burger, fries, and a shake. I particularly like the clam chowder too. If you want, they have healthy burgers. There are other Ruby's too: South Coast Plaza, San Juan Capistrano, and San Clemente, maybe even more. They're all good. less
