Ron's landing is one of the premier seafood restaurants in the Hampton Beach area, and with good reason. The seafood is always fresh (in New England, it would be a crime if it wasn't), the service is always polite, attentive and professional, and the atmosphere is comfortable. Ron's is not your typical "fried clams and french fries" restaurant. The menu manages to achieve a balance between old stand-bys and a number dishes which are imaginative without being extreme. On our last visit, my wife enjoyed an interesting pasta dish with shrimp. It was scampi-like, in that the sauce was oil and garlic based, but it also contained several distinctively non-scampi ingredients - artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and calamata olives - which nevertheless providing a pleasing mix of tastes. My Dad had his old favorite, baked haddock with a bread crumb topping. Not only was the fish fresh, moist and flaky, but he remarked at the fact that the topping was very light, just enough to nicely set off the flavor of the fish without being overwhelming. I am not the world's greatest fish lover, so I chose a broiled sirloin topped with crumbled blue cheese. I ordered it medium rare, and that's exactly how it was prepared (a bugaboo amongst us red meat lovers)! My only complaint with the menu is that it's heavy on seafood (easy to understand), but provides previous few non-seafood alternatives. The restaurant has a lively lounge on the second floor. When the place is crowded, you can eat at the bar rather than endure the wait. That is, of course, if you can find a seat! Otherwise, I'd strongly recommend reservations during high-traffic periods, typically Thursday through Sunday.
