When I first came to Lubbock it was from New Orleans and was I in for a surprize. It is incredible that read from the other reports here "generous portions". These poor folks have no idea what a generous portion of catfish is! When I eat catfish in New Orleans it is "heaped" on the plate. River Smith's offered a catfish dinner and a Deluxe Catfish dinner. I ordered the deluxe. When it can it had three smallish pices of catfish on the place. I asked the waitress "Mam, I order the deluxe catfish dinner." She said that's what I brought you and of course I asked how much catfish on the standard plate abnd was told "two" pieces. If you are used to seafood you better pass River Smith's by or just stop by for the beer. The service is fine and catfish tasted good but there just wasn't much of it! less

River Smith's has a reputation in Lubbock of having good catfish at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is fairly laid back, and most of the employees are friendly and helpful. However, I have had lengthy wait times for food before. As a whole, River Smith's is a good diversion, but would not be my first choice if visiting Lubbock. less
