What can i say about the red kettle that gary didn't already? how about homemade stuffed french toast, stuffed with fresh blueberries? the servings are more than ample, and no matter how hard you try, you always end up cleaning the plate. Ladies, this restaurant is also good for "eye candy" during the weekends, when cadets from nearby Norwich University come in to eat! yummy! The cat does a wonderful job managing the place, and doesn't linger so as to allow you to enjoy the delicious meal. less

This northfield commodity has been around for years, and once you experience it, there will be no surprise. simple fare with nightly specials are known the region over..great food, great portions at a dirt cheap price. breakfasts at the kettle are my favorite, when i'm up that early, but my wife goes nuts over the prime rib special that they have weekly. during the warmer months, outside dining is available, and they also have a walk up window for creemees and regular ice cream. service is always great, (but for some strange reason, service and food are better when dan isn't there! wink wink!) one word of caution...be forwarned if you are allergic to cat dander. this delightful repose on vt 12, about 2 miles south of the village, is owned by a red tabby who makes sure everything is running smoothly. dan works for the cat. smiles regulars have their own coffee cups awaiting them, and the coffee is always fresh. if you go to dine during the winter, don't be put off by snowmobiles in the parking lot. dress is casual and the food always a treat. less
