To be honest, I had heard a lot of good things about Phowers Hamburgers. I decided to go there and try a few. I don't mind the broke down building and mostly rude staff. What bothers me is the cleanliness, the place is a wreck inside. The cashier was also the cook, handling the money and burgers, raw and cooked with the same gloved hands. The door inside and outside was caked with so much grease that I honestly didnt want to touch the steering wheel in my car. I couldnt bring myself to return there after seeing what the health department apparently did not see. less

However, most agree that the food is worth it. I have had one bad experience, but many good ones when it comes to the food. Burgers are excellent... while you are eating them. Afterwards, I love the cheeseburger, it was too big too eat there had to take home. Love this place.Bring a beer cooler if you want something to drink. you may feel that you just took a year off your life. Oh yeah, good loacation too. less

Located deep in the old downtown area, Powers' is a cute little black and white-tiled art decoey little building, with plenty of parking due to urban decay around it, which isn't pretentious, because it's a relic original.. There's hardly anything to consider eating here besides hamburgers cooked in the "white castle" style, but with LOTS MORE onions; in fact, sometimes three times more onion than beef, but I love it. Other stuff costs more money.. Bring a beer cooler if you want something to drink. less

Powers burgers cannot possibly be beat by any chain restaurant, because Powers' are fresh and not from frozen "mystery meat". less
