An evening at Pontevecchio is like a trip to Italy. Everything is fresh, seasonal and fully flavored. We rarely miss our Saturday lunch (the brick oven pizza is unbeatable--and priced under $10, even when topped with your favorites--we like the fresh mozzarella, basil and roasted peppers). The bread is homemade and baked in the same brick oven. Salads are spectacular--our favorite is the Mediterranean: crisp lettuces, ripe tomatoes, mild goat cheese and vanilla roasted hazlenuts. There are always several kinds of fresh fish, meats and homemade pastas prepared many different ways, but always dressed simply, bathed in incredible herb-annointed sauces and accompanied by the best roasted vegetables, creating excitement for the eye and palate. All desserts are homemade(great rum soaked cake, cream and fruit or chocolate concoctions) and made that day. The cappucino can't be beat. The wine list is short, but wonderful, featuring many affordable bottles. Service is friendly and attentive. The ambience is warm with light woods and terra cotta tile. In short, a wonderful experience that bears repeating...often. less

How can I put this, .....Italy!!! simply delizioso, It is the only Restaurant That is closest to real Italian cusine, I had grilled calamari and octopus, half an order of (Home made) real potato Gnocchi, with fresh basil and mozzarella and a cod stew with cherry tomato, onoion, capers, black olive and potato!!! delightful!!! Sicilian wine suggested by Catari` it was a nero davola, and last a piece of sicilian Cassata made by Catari`'s father it was so good i still dream of its flavor that was well accompanied by Catari`'s real Neapolitan espresso and sence of humor. They should open one in New York!!!! less

One of the few authentic restaurants in the suburbs. Having been to italy many times, I recognize the difference between an Itallian rest and an American rest serving pasta. This place is genuine. I will admit the service is not snooty, it is a thin where everyone helps everybody, so if they get busy, you do not have any one person to call. Also, wine list gets a bit pricey. No whouse wines or by the glass wine in the restaurant. I haven't been but it appears the tratoria next door is their affordable half. PS get one of the whole fish specials which is served at your table. Yhe snapper in rock salt reminded me of how mine was prepared in venice...... less
