I remember Pals Cabin from my childhood--when the shopping center across the street was known as "Korvette City." It's interesting to note how the menu and prices(!) have changed over the years. I dine at Pals mainly for nostalgic reasons; there are few remarkable dishes here. One that I do recommend, however, is the mushroom soup. less

Pal's Cabin has been in West Orange for a long long time, and since I've lived here for nearly 20 years, I've had occasion to eat there several times. It's more than a diner - There's a little bit more of a restaurant feel to it, which I like. The service is good, the staff is friendly. It's a great all-purpose place if you're with a group of people who all want different things. Onion rings, hamburgers, turkey platter - all of these come to mind as things I've enjoyed there recently. Price-wise, you can keep to a budget if you'd like to, or splurge a bit. All in all, a nice place to go for good food. less

I know that this place is a regional landmark, but I have never understood what all the fuss is about. The place always looks dirty to me, and when you sit in the room with the booths, you constantly feel "sea sick" from the vibrations (I can't figure out if the restaurant rattles from the outside traffic). If you are lucky the food is not offensive; if you are not lucky, well.... I know that my views are not shared by many long time Essex County residents. Pals has a reputation for serving great hamburgers and great hot turkey sandwiches. Again, the food is lost on me. less
