This was more expensive than I usually like to go, but she was worth it! The view was excellent, and we were treated to a spectacular sunset that made up for any of my articulatory shortcomings. Of course the British accent helps, but who can find words when nature dishes up a conversation of colors and paterns of unequalled (aside from my date) beauty? Well actually she could, rather more words than needed, but at least I can pretend to be such a good listener that she didn't realize that all I heard was blah, blah, blah, after about the first 20 or so minutes. I had to dump her the following week, she wanted me to take her to my condo in Baja, which I would have done but for 2 small problems, 1) I couldn't leave the country (greencard processing), and 2) I didn't have one. Oh well, all good things come to an end! less

Sitting atop a hill overlooking the city of Orange, CA, this fine restaurant has a commanding view of its surroundings. Sunsets are sometimes spectacular, viewed thru the large windows facing west. The food is excellent and moderate in price. The motif is, as the name implies, old-time mining, complete with drinks served in Mason jars and salad (do it yourself) in a goldminer's panning tin (much like a pie tin). The salad bar is very extensive, and you could make your entire meal of it. Steaks are wonderful and their ribs are excellent. You won't go home hungry. Don't dare drink too much if you're driving; the road up and down the hill is quite steep, narrow and very winding. Dress is casual, but coat and tie wouldn't be overdressed. less

Oh!!!! One our favorite most romantic places to go to. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere can't get much better. Its on the top of a hill over looking several cities. At night the veiw of lights are simple gourgeous. Ask for a window table. The food is delicous. We usually order the fillet minion combo with crab or lobster. With the self service salad bar with so much to choose from and the cheese bread and potato or rice I have never yet been able to finish my meal. We have very wonderful memories after each time we visit. Its always been worth the price we pay. Its better to call first for reservations. less
