Nutter's doesn't truly qualify as a restaurant because of the lack of seating but the food is better than almost anywhere else in Delaware. First of all, you have to find the place. Take Rt. 273 W out of Newark and head for the Maryland border. Just before you cross it, Nutter's is the small building on the left that looks like a former old-fashioned gas station. Once you walk inside, you'll know you're in the right place by the smell. Nutter's is best known for two things: crab bisque and generous sandwiches. The availability of crab bisque is posted on a sign along the roadside. If it's available, get some. It's delicious! My personal favorite sandwich at Nutter's is the Chicken Salad Club Sandwich. There are large, juicy chunks of chicken in the chicken salad and the bacon is thick and crispy. Excellent! One word of warning: as of this review in 2007, Nutter's still does not accept credit or debit cards. So hit the ATM and cruise out to Nutter's. It's worth the short drive down W. Main St., which turns into Nottingham Road. less
