Mom's Treehouse is one of most unique Dining Experiences in Brevard County By George Khoury Mom's Treehouse Cafe, in the historic section of Titusville is perhaps one of the most unique restaurants in Brevard county. Essentially, Mom and Bob Treehouse have brought the same care for quality food to this new location that they established in their Garden Street restaurant. It is a winning combination of the freshest foods prepared with the best ingredients at the skilled hand of a well trained chef-but the adventure does not begin or end with the food. It took two attempts to locate this restaurant. Drive slowly along South Washington, it is the 1908 old house on your right side. The sign is there but you still have to pay attention. It will be well worth the effort for the experience that awaits. The house is a living museum to any thing that might interest Bob and Mom. Pictures, paintings, clothing, sketches of W.C. Fields, Laurel and Hardy, Chaplin and Keaton, mix in with Pittsburgh Steeler hats, diplomas, dolls, flowers, plants, pots and pans, antique clothings, kitchen utensils and items from happy and loyal customers. Did I say customers, when you enter, Bob and Mom greet you as family, during a recent visit everyone who visited had been regular customers for years- in some cases over twenty years. Hugs and kisses given freely. “This restaurant has something for everyone, ” Mom said proudly. “There is no heat lamp. When the food is ready it comes right from the stove to the table-just like at home. At other restaurants food is kept under a lamp until all the dishes are delivered to the table. Not here. Each dish is personally created by Chef Christine Rubio, who is a graduate of Disney Culinary Arts and Mom and Bob's daughter. The breakfast menu reflects 70 distinct omelettes while over 130 different and original ones can be created. Most restaurants would feature one variation of the famous Monte Cristo sandwich. Mom's Treehouse offers six exciting selections. But don't stop there-if French Toast is your love then you can try Granny Smith Apple Strudel French Toast or Fresh Banana Nut Bread French Toast as well as five other choices. The menu is a feast as you read about the ingredients in the omelettes that are named in honor of our space program. The coffee is fresh and like the tomatoes served with the omelettes, actually tastes the way they are supposed to taste. Something else that must be noted, although salt and pepper are on the table, the food is so expertly prepared that you never touch the condiments. Flapjacks are special treat. You may select, if you can, from the Great Southern Pecan, Old Fashioned Style, Country Blueberry, Granola Banana Pecan, or any of the other four offerings all made from a homemade batter. If you need more than premium blended coffee, try Mom's various teas, fresh carrot juice or any of the custom blended fruit smoothies. The vegetables, fruit and eggs are farm fresh and delivered daily The turkey is oven roasted on the spot, while the sausage is home-ground, the bacon personally selected by the chef and is always the best quality and lean. As a special treat, order the carrot cake with coffee as part of your desert. It was a taste sensation that could never be duplicated at home. I won't tell what treats await you during a casual lunch at Mom's Treehouse, but for the same amount of money and impersonality you would find at a fast food place, you can dine well for under $8.00 The professional and warm wait-staff is led by Lisa Hatchcock, who has been with Mom and Bob for 15 years as apparently have their loyal friends and customers. Where else can you have well prepared food, like your Mom would make, served by friendly and warm people to a table that might just have a birdhouse as a decoration. By the way, Mom's Treehouse does not take credit cards so currency is advised. My friends, bring the family for breakfast or lunch-this is a unique marvelous find in our backyard.
