The Melting Pot is a nice, classy place to go out to eat if you want to try something different for a change. The cheesee fondue is superb, and the chocolate fondue will be sure to win over your girlfriend/wife. Dress code, so be prepared, and make a reservation. The service isn't snooty, either, which is a definate plus. Definately a place where a gentleman would go to eat. Just beware of roving French clas Field trippers, they show up with frightening regularity. less

Here is a fresh and excellent view in retro dining, a lady friend of mine enjoyed our dining experience here in Va. Beach. With no pre-concieved notions we tried this resturant on the recomendations of a friend of mine. The entree was a choice blend of cheddar cheese's and slices of apple, sour-dough, pumpernickle, and fresh itialian breads. The salads compromised the second course and I selected the mushroom salad, full of fresh sliced mushrooms, quite nice! The third course was a bullion based broth and with this was a very large portion of sirloin medalloins, tiger shrimp, chicken cubes, tenderloin chunks, salmon portions and all was quite adequate to satisfy even the most curious of palates. With a glass of even the standard house wine, I found this experience to be most pleasing! If you are out for a different choice of taste I do recommend you Give the Melting Pot (on Laskin Road) a try! less

I tried this resturant with a date of mine from Hampton; I must say I was impressed with the service and the selections of entree's. The cozy atmosphere and attention to detail were very much appreciated, Thank You Melting Pot for a wonderful event! I know what you're thinking, Fondue, How 70's, but I must say I found this little slice of life to be very refreshing! The selections are numerous and the servings were ample to tempt and please the pallet. Our first course was a 3 blend Wisconson cheese fondue started with a little addition of Blue cheese, just the right bite! 3 types of bread (sour dough, pumpernickle, rye) An ample portion of fresh veggies and the in-table hot plate kept the cheese blend very warm and tasty! <br> Our second course was a salad, and we chose the Mushroom salad with an excess of mushrooms made for a tempting pause from the fondue, the light semi sweet/tangy dressing was very good. <br> The third course was a pot of a broth mix placed at the hot plate and then the meats arrived, Fresh Salmon, Large Shrimp, Chicken, Steak and Fillet Mingon medallions rounded these choices out, All cuts were Silver dollar sized and atleast 1/2 inches thick. Conversation with your partner is definately a plus in this type of atmosphere, and who know's maybe even a kiss for them as you dine in this setting of light music and soft lighting. <br> A wonderful experience at retro dining and their wine selection was the best I have seen locally. A must do! <br> Next visit we will be going for the Chocolate/Dessert selection and who know's we even may make this little slice of Va.Beach a constant return stop. Give them a try as our evening only ran approximately 70$ and this included 3 drinks apeice for us. What have you got to loose, Nothing but a fine time as we had! <br> less
