Gosh, how I miss this restaurant. My parents had their wedding reception there, both my sisters, it's the place to go for the gathering after a funeral. What can I say, czech descent here, and the food is great. Though I disagree with one above comment that if you're not familiar with czech food, Svickova is not what I would recommend. Something more like, roast pork, roast duck, with the saurkraut and dumplings, or smoked butt...yes you can make these things yourself, BUT, it WON'T taste the same. By all means liver dumpling soup, and did you know if you ask for the broth with noodles you can ask to have a liver dumpling or two put in? Kolacky for dessert, my favorite, cheese, apricot, prune...but they do run out...just love it, so many memories...great place...and the czech restaurants are dwindling. Don't live there anymore, and every visit you'll find me at least once at Klas!!!!! less

Near the entrance one can see playing cards once used by Al Capone. This place is just oozing with history! Those who like Czech cooking should make the trip to Klas. The food, décor, and service (!) are, perhaps, as close to authentic as one can find in this country. In addition, the prices are unbelievably affordable. Dinners include soup, salad bar, and dessert! Those unfamiliar with Czech cooking should try the Svickova--a traditional dish. Czech newspapers and journals are available at the cashier. less
