Well, went back to Katz's Deli because I can't seem to go to NYC without going to Katz's. Had matzoh ball soup and a corned beef sandwich which were excellent..better than the deli's in Los Angeles and there are some great ones there. Going to Katz's is an experience and I recommend that if you are in NYC you try it..you'll like it! less

My favorite deli in California is Canter's in Los Angeles and now my other favorite deli is Katz's in NYC! We were told we had to go there while in NY so we did and we weren't disappointed. Corned beef on rye was great, as well as ever ... more

Across the counter from me was Herbie who said to me right off the bat "How's Herbie". Herbie was also the name of my Dad who had moved to Florida 4 years earlier. Not only that, but he knew my order: A Pastrami on Rye with a side of French fries and a Coke. Now diet coke, but still, what service! Only ay Katz's! less

It is the best in the city. The hot pastrami on rye is unrivaled (and is much better than 2nd ave deli). The corned beef is also good.
