I cannot agree less with this last reviewer, because 1) they didnt say anything about the restaurant itself, they were just irritated at the landscapers, and 2) Katella Deli is an awesome place to eat. The bakery and deli case themselves would be reason enough to come here, with the most astounding selection of baked goods and kosher deli goodies. But in the restaurant, here is where one finds pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, the Burger Construction Company, and seriously good soups and salads. There is also a lounge area where one can have an adult beverage and order from the full menu too. Katella Deli is one of the few places in all of my nearly 200 reviews that gets (and keeps!) the Big Four Stars. Highly recommended. less

Had breakfast there with my wife; practically nobody there! Now I know why: Waitresses were busy complaining in loud voices how nasty their respective "slum landloards" were how bug infested their domiciles were (very appetising conversation)and other less attractive comments. Had to whistle for the busboy to get us a refill on our coffee to go with the meal. While we were dining the 'gardners' outside were spraying my car with wet grass clippings and hedge trimmings. This was the last straw so I asked to speak with the Manager. Manager Joe was not responding to repeated pages although I was reassured to just wait and he would be located. (now I know why the waitresses were having such conversations and the gardeners were so inconsiderate. less

Starting with their bakery, the pastries are to die for and just about anything you can think of, they bake. Any specialty items can be special ordered in advance. French pastries, cheese cakes, pies & fresh fruit tarts, coffee cakes, all kinds of breads, etc. are available. If you special order something and tell them the time and date, it will be ready for you on time. Their bakery is very big and everything is mouth-watering delicious! One of the most delicious cakes they sell is a white whipped cream layer cake with fresh strawberries on each layer and on the top. Fit for a king and queen!!! The restaurant entrees are wonderful with large portions, side dishes, a plate of pickles on the table(you can ask for more after those are eaten). Their soups and salads are all excellent especially the matzo ball soup and sweet & sour cabbage soup, cabbage soup is available on Thursday and Saturday. The restaurant a take-out deli counter, and there is a special counter for hot take-out foods. You can call ahead so it'll be ready by the time you arrive. Their employees are courteous, knowledgeable and well-trained and the catering dept. delivers. The owner and managerial staff bend over backward to keep their customers happy!! I have made some very unusual requests over the years and they have said, 'we can arrange that'. My family and I have been shopping and dining there for at least 20-25 years. less

Have been going to Katella Deli since before it moved to its current location, which has been some years ago. It is a large restaurant, very clean and with courteous staff. Wonderful, wonderful bakery and Kosher deli is attached to the restaurant and you can go in and look at all the excellent pastries and gefilte fish and matzos while you wait for a table, which may be a while during the 5 pm to 7 pm rush. But it is entirely worth it. The menu is three+ pages of really great deli-style sandwiches, some salad options, some pastas also. The sandwiches are Claim Jumper-like, meaning huge, which is not surprising since the two restaurants once co-existed in the same intersection of Katella Ave and Los Alamitos Blvd. They used to be very generous with the deli pickles they would bring to the table, but I think that too many people were wrapping them up and taking them home so now they have cut way back on that. Overall, an excellent family atmosphere and very good food at a reasonable price. less
