J. gilbert's is my favorite restaurant in central Connecticut. Though they specialize in prime cut wood-grilled steaks, they also offer some fabulous salmon, lobster, crab, and other fish dishes. My favorite meal at j. gilbert's is Mixed Grill. This is a combo including a 4oz petite filet, blackened chicken breast, grilled bbq shrimp, white cheddar chipotle mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, and pineapple mango salsa. How can you go wrong with that dish? Add a nice glass of wine and one of their fabulous deserts for a really nice and romantic evening. They are only open for dinner but it is worth every penny you spend. less

This is, by far, my favorite restaurant. The food is unbelievable. The steaks are incredibly tender, like butter and the crab cakes rival those right out of Maryland. The service is top-notch. The wait staff are apparently well trained to make you comfortable and if you want something special, just ask, they will accommodate you. The desserts are just as good, especially the chocolate velvet cake. This is the perfect date place or just a nice treat. It's not cheap, with entrees starting at $24, but it is well worth every penny spent! less
