#1 restaurant in NYC in my opinion. Here's my advice: 1. Get a reservation 2. Take it slow - as soon as you sit the wait staff descends on your table with bread, olive oil, cheeses, the menu...take a deep breath and slow down the pace 3. Have the server select your first pasta course - they won't do you wrong 4. You must try the veal chop - out of this world 5. Enjoy the grappa at the end of the meal. If there was a 6 star rating - Il Mulino would get my vote less

Il Mulino is one of my favorite restaurants in New York City. From the outstanding service led by owner Fernando to their excellent food, especially their chicken dishes and desserts(get the chocolate fudge cake!), Il Mulino is a must for anybody visiting the Big Apple looking for that special dining experience. less

It's always a good sign when you enter a full restaurant. The service was great-- we were given complementary drinks and bread, and our waiter was quick and attentive. The food was simple but good(I recommend the ravioli), and the atmosphere was great. less

The celebrities and "power players" dine here, so it is always very crowded and noisy; be prepared to wait for your table, even with reservations. Once seated, you are given a "freebie", a little appetiser to nibble on, with your drink, while you study the menu. The food here is gourmet Northen Italian, so expect wines sauces in the cooking, rather than tomato based sauces. Everything is very good, from the soups and antipastas, to the fish, veal, and seafood pasta dishes; desserts are heavy and rich. This restaurant is worth returning to for the excellent food, but the crowd noice and long waits are very distracting and disturbing; never the less, this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Manhattan. less
