Dark windows and an out-of-the way location might spell trouble for some new restaurants, but Misala seems to be making the most of its inauspicious digs. This Caribbean eatery and lounge in Logan Square has yet to draw crowds at the dinner-time hour, but when the clock strikes midnight (or maybe even a few hours earlier), you can be sure that it's getting hot in here as a steady stream of patrons saunter through the doors for a night of eye-batting, cocktail sipping and island cuisine. Specialties like the pollo en fricase (a hearty stew of chicken, potatoes and veggies) and roasted red snapper splashed with lime juice can satisfy the hungriest of guests, while those looking for lighter fare to compliment their martini would do well to nibble on the Caribbean shrimp kabobs or fried plantains. Mingle at the bar or perch on one of the comfortable couches as the rotating DJs (some from the closed Sinibar in Wicker Park) provide entertainment well into the night. -- Kim Conte less

This is an interesting place on the surface. The decor and food go hand-in-hand: they are both attention getting. The service here was inatentive and thus downrate substantially. Once in a great while you may need to ask a passing bus boy to summon your waiter even in the better restaurants. When you do that three times, something is wrong. The capper was the indifferent response of the manager on duty. As we departed he asked 'How was everything' and when we said the that service was poor and that the wait staff needed to be more attentive he said 'I'm glad' and went on to other duties. The place was not that busy. less
