Gold Star gets three stars for their chili. One of the two most visible Cincinnati chili chains around, the other being Skyline, Gold Star does a good job without being the same as other places. Gold Star bills themselves as being the largest chili store chain in the country, but Skyline claims to sell more chili. You be the judge of which one's better. <br> I myself like both Skyline and Gold Star, but I must be the exception rather than the rule, because there are chili fanatics solidly entrenched in either the Skyline or Gold Star camp who would rather die than eat their archrival's chili. <br> Skyline has a sweeter taste to it, but if you're looking for a more chili-like taste than most Cincinnati style chili places offer, look no further than Gold Star. <br> Gold Star was the first of the two chains to offer french fries with its chili. It also offers versions of Tex-Mex chili, as well as vegetarian chili for the vegans out there who get dragged along with their chili-loving friends. <br> And it always seems that Gold Star serves their chili at a hotter temperature than Skyline. I've noticed this when getting cheese coneys from each chain's drive through. You have to wait a few minutes to eat a Gold Star coney, while the chili cools down, whereas Skyline coneys can be eaten immediately without fear of burning the roof of your mouth. <br> So order a 5 way, cheese coney with mustard and onion, and a soda and enjoy. But make sure they give you enough packages of oyster crackers for your meal. less

I lived in Ohio for years and became spoiled by the ready availability of Gold Star Chili..(one on every corner) Now I live in Tennessee and have for the last 12 years... I soooo miss this place! When in Ohio, visit a Gold Star near you! They have mixes and cans of their chili for sale in each store. Word to the wise...Grab a case to bring home with you as this stuff is VERY addictive! Any yankees wanna send a southern gal a Gold Star "fix?" LOL less
