This is by far the BEST Spanish/Portuguese restaurant in Newark. Very elegant atmosphere and decor, but you are welcome even in jeans and a T-shirt. The food is top quality, from the salad of sea salt-washed romained lettuce, olives tomatoes and onions to the perfectly steamed lobster. My favorite dish is the shrimp in champagne sauce, and I absolutely love the "chips" that they serve with every meal. The service is fast and friendly -- even at their busiest. After dinner, be sure to enjoy a Spanish, Mexican or Jamaican coffee -- the smoothest and tastiest coffee ever and served in a brandy snifter. No reservations taken, so get there early on weekends especially. Even if you have to wait, though, it is worth it -- and then some. less

The mix of a whole lobster , clams, mussles, shrimp, and scallops were very well portioned and had some to take home. Even though the place is busy I was never rushed. The prices are very reasonable for the atmosphere and service. less

We absolutely LOVE this restaurant. Alot of people aren't crazy about going to Newark, particularly at night, but they should have no concerns about going to Forno's. There is a private free parking lot in back of the restaurant, for the patrons. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations (at least I don't think so) and there is always a long line, particularly Friday nights through Sunday nights. It's worth the wait however. You can order a pitcher of Sangria while you wait, and be sure to ask for a plate of the marvelous fried potato chips (free). During the warm months, you can wait at the outside tables, between the parking lot and the restaurant. The food is terrific. My favorite is the mariscada salsa verde, which is seafood (including lobster) in a green sauce. If you just order a main course, your meal will come with salad, great bread, potato chips (homemade). The entrees are very reasonable, even the lobsters. A plate with double lobsters is in the $25 range. We try to get to this restaurant at least once every two months. less
